Each week The Observer will be profiling a public servant from our community in our At Your Service feature. That can mean anyone from a firefighter or EMT to a police officer or a city worker. The Observer is looking for suggestions from around the community. Please send your nominations to sthomas@hcnonline.com or call 281-446-1071.
This weeks public servant is:
Domingo Villarreal
Title: Forensic Lab Detective
Employer: Humble Police Department
Time on the job: 18 years
Duties: I oversee all crime lab functions and major crime scenes, to
include evidence submitted to the lab and comparison of prints for
elimination or suspect identification. I enter the unknown developed
prints into our newly acquired Automated Fingerprint Identification
System. I’m also in charge of the preparation and reconstruction of
major crime scenes for prosecution.
Most memorable day on the job: Dec. 20, 2006, when I individualized
the ‘developed left palm’ to the left hand of Keith Hines, placing
him as the indisputable killer of the Good Samaritan, Steven Jackson
(Dec. 6, 2006).
Hobbies and interests: I love to travel and teach/train other
officers in the field of forensics.
Favorite movie: “Fireproof”
